Morocco announced Saturday the reopening of its embassy in Syria, closed since 2012, King Mohammed VI said in a message to the Arab summit in Baghdad, cited by AFP.

In a letter read on his behalf by Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Rabat "reaffirmed its historical firm stance of support and backing for the Syrian people to achieve their aspirations for freedom, security, and stability, and to preserve Syria's territorial unity and national sovereignty." "In line with this position, Morocco has decided to reopen its embassy in Damascus," the text highlights. This decision will contribute to "opening wider horizons for the historical bilateral relations" between the two countries, Bourita concluded.
