A man identified by the Israeli army as a local Hezbollah commander was killed Wednesday morning in a drone strike targeting a van in Kaakaiet al-Jisr, in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh district.
The Health Ministry confirmed the death of the person who was in the van, without reporting other casualties. According to information from our correspondent in the south, the victim, Hussein Melhem, was originally from Qabrikha, also in the south.
The Israeli army, in a message from its Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee, claimed responsibility for the strike, saying it had “eliminated a member of Hezbollah, who was operating as a commander” of a local branch of Hezbollah in Qabrikha.
Israeli drones continued to fly over several villages in the Nabatieh district at low altitude in the morning.
Despite the cease-fire agreement, the Israeli army continues to carry out almost daily strikes in southern Lebanon and occupies five points it considers "strategic." According to our count, at least 157 people have been killed by the Israeli army in Lebanon since the start of the truce.
