The Palestinian civil defense announced that Israeli airstrikes killed at least 25 people in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday morning.

Nine people were killed and six others are missing after an Israeli bombing of a house in the center of Khan Younis, in the southern part of the Palestinian territory, Mohammad al-Moughair, a civil defense official in Gaza, told AFP.

Strikes also killed five people in the al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City (north), and five others, including a woman, in a tent sheltering displaced persons northeast of the Jabalia camp, also in the north. A strike also killed four people west of the Jabalia camp, while two other people were killed in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.

Breaking nearly two months of truce, Israel resumed its aerial and then ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza on March 18. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, at least 1,864 Palestinians have been killed since March 18, bringing the total death toll in Gaza to 51,240 since the beginning of the Israeli retaliatory offensive at the end of 2023.

The war was triggered by Hamas' unprecedented attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of 1,218 people on the Israeli side, mostly civilians, according to an AFP count based on official data. Of the 251 people abducted that day, 58 are still being held in Gaza, with 34 dead, according to the Israeli army.

On Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he was determined to continue the war and rejected Hamas' 'dictates.' According to Netanyahu, only military pressure will ensure the return of the hostages still held in Gaza.
