Syrian Air has announced the resumption of its direct flights to Dubai and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates starting Sunday, according to a post on its official Facebook page.
All flights between Syria and the UAE had been suspended since January, following the overthrow of former Syrian President Bashar Assad by Islamist rebels in December 2024. The airline’s announcement comes just days after the UAE’s Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the resumption of air travel between the two countries.
As of now, no UAE-based carrier has announced plans to resume flights to Syria.
The move follows Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa’s first official visit to the UAE, during which he met with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan.
