A young boy was abducted from the Public School for Boys in Beddawi, north of Tripoli, as reported by our correspondent Michel Hallak and the National News Agency (NNA). The seventh-grade student was kidnapped by several individuals who entered the institution, and the incident has caused panic among students and their parents, creating a tense atmosphere in the school's neighborhood.
According to available information, this abduction is believed to be a retaliation for the abduction of a young woman by a member of the boy's family to marry her. The family is conditioning the child's release on the return of the woman.
The Internal Security Forces (ISF) have launched an investigation and are mobilized to try to free the child quickly. They are also working to ease the growing tensions between the two families.
Marriage by abduction remains a widespread practice in Lebanon, especially when families refuse to give their consent or when the prospective spouses seek to avoid high wedding costs. This practice is rejected by some traditional communities, who see it as a violation of family laws and good morals.
