Judges at the Jerusalem District Court have accepted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's request to cancel one of the hearings in which he was scheduled to testify as part of his criminal trial, according to reports by Haaretz and The Times of Israel on Sunday.
Netanyahu, who was originally set to testify three times over the coming days, will now only testify twice during extended hearings, as decided by the judges.
His lawyer argued that Netanyahu needed to attend a meeting of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Tuesday or Wednesday, as well as an important security meeting that could not be rescheduled. He is also scheduled for a state visit to Hungary starting Wednesday.
The Prime Minister is accused of corruption, fraud and breach of trust for allegedly offering favorable regulations to media mogul Shaul Elovitch in exchange for positive coverage from his media outlet, Walla.
