The head of the Lebanese Forces (LF) Samir Geagea commented on Sunday on the rocket launch from Lebanon towards Israel on Saturday, considering that the incident is enough to "reshuffle the cards."

"New rockets were launched from Lebanon, whether one, two, or three, it is enough to reshuffle the cards again and cause even more human and material losses while the state remains absent," he stated in Maarab on the occasion of Mother's Day, during a celebration held in honor of the mothers of fallen LF members.

On Saturday morning, three rockets were fired from southern Lebanon toward the Israeli town of Metoula, immediately intercepted by the Israeli defense system. In retaliation, Israel bombed at least six villages in the South and 18 sites in this region and the Bekaa, killing and injuring several people. Although Israeli violations are daily occurrences, Saturday's events are the most serious since the cease-fire of November 2024, which ended the war between Hezbollah and Israel. Hezbollah, for its part, denied any involvement in the incident, and the Lebanese Army found wooden platforms used for launching the rockets.

"Lebanon should have turned the page of disasters, and we are in a new phase, which is the hope of coming out of the situation we are in," Geagea continued. He added, "We have campaigned in recent years for the building of an effective state in Lebanon, and we succeeded in our bet with the election of Joseph Aoun as President of the Republic, the appointment of Nawaf Salam as head of the Parliament, and by forming the government."

In crisis since 2019, Lebanon experienced an extremely dangerous period, exacerbated by the outbreak of clashes between Hezbollah and Israel, which began on Oct. 8, 2023, the day after the Gaza war began. These clashes escalated into a near-total war last September, before a cease-fire was agreed upon and took effect on Nov. 27, under the aegis of the United States and France.

However, this cease-fire has been marked by numerous incidents, strikes and violations, notably Israeli ones. The Israeli military refused to withdraw from five strategic sites, as it was supposed to by Feb. 18, and Hezbollah has not yet disarmed. The World Bank estimated $11 billion in financing necessary to rebuild the country.
