The Israeli security cabinet approved on Saturday night the creation of an administration affiliated with the Defense Ministry, responsible for allowing Palestinians to "voluntarily" leave the Gaza Strip, reported Israeli dailies The Times of Israel and Haaretz on Sunday.

The office of Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that this new directorate will work to "prepare and allow the safe and controlled passage of Gaza residents who wish to voluntarily depart to third countries, including securing their movements, establishing land, sea and air passage routes to destination countries."

The relocation will be "subject to Israeli and international law, and in accordance with U.S. President Donald Trump's vision," the statement added.

The creation of this administration, intended to implement the American president's "plan," was announced on March 9 by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich (far right), while the cease-fire that began on Jan. 19 between Hamas and Israel was still holding. Since then, negotiations to decide on the next step have failed, Israel has resumed its attacks on Gaza, and the Israeli government has approved the return of Itamar Ben-Gvir, another far-right figure, to the position of National Security Minister, from which he resigned on Jan. 19 to protest against the cease-fire.
