Iraqi security forces have seized 1.1 tons of Captagon tablets that were transported from Syria via neighboring Turkey, the Iraqi Ministry of the Interior announced on Sunday.
The shipment contained seven million pills, according to an Iraqi security official who spoke to AFP on condition of anonymity.
The Directorate of Narcotics "seized a truck coming from Syria, destined for Iraq, passing through Turkey, carrying 1.1 tons of Captagon tablets," said Interior Ministry spokesperson General Moqdad Miri, describing the operation as a major bust made possible by "very important information" provided by Saudi security forces.
