Lebanese authorities have announced that truck traffic will be banned on the road connecting Beirut to the Bekaa via the Dahr al-Baidar pass during certain time slots to ease congestion.
The decision was made by Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar, Bekaa Governor Kamal Abou Jaoude and Mount Lebanon Governor Mohammad Mekkaoui, in coordination with the Internal Security Forces (ISF), according to a statement.
Starting Monday, March 3, trucks will be prohibited from crossing the ISF checkpoint at Dahr al-Baidar between 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., the statement said.
