The Kurds in Syria assert their independence. The historic dissolution of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), announced Thursday, Feb. 27, by the group’s leader Abdullah Öcalan, was quickly praised by the head of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Mazloum Abdi.
