BEIRUT — The Lebanese Army announced on Wednesday that it had arrested 89 individuals, predominantly Syrian nationals, on various charges across the country, while also confiscating weapons and illegal substances.
According to a statement shared on its X account, the army detained 86 Syrians in the Deir Ammar and Shadra, in northern Lebanon, for "illegally entering Lebanon."
Three Lebanese individuals were arrested in Majdaloun, Baalbeck, on charges of kidnapping, drug trafficking and firearms possession. The army seized weapons, ammunition, military equipment and hashish (compressed form of marijuana) from the suspects.
Additionally, another citizen was arrested in Choueifat, in the Aley district, south of Beirut, for "firing a weapon," with a war-grade firearm recovered in his possession.
In a separate operation, the army raided the homes of individuals wanted for arms trafficking in the Brital region of Baalbeck, where they seized drugs, weapons and ammunition.
