The Lebanese Army’s long-anticipated deployment in southern Lebanon has sparked a mixture of relief, hope and frustration from residents in the region.In the wake of last year’s war, which killed nearly 4,000 people, left entire villages in ruins and displaced thousands, the army’s presence “represents a long-awaited return to order,” said Kassem al-Kadri, mayor of Kfar Shuba, a town less than two kilometers from the border, in the eastern sector's Hasbaya district.However, the Israeli occupation of at least 10 border villages from Bint Jbeil district to Hasbaya underscored lingering tensions, especially with the extension of the cease-fire agreement’s implementation until Feb. 18, announced by the White House on Jan. 26.  Read more The southern Lebanese shot by Israel while returning home That day marked the initial deadline...
