The Palestinian presidency on Monday denounced what it called "ethnic cleansing" by Israel in the occupied West Bank, according to statements made by its spokesperson to the Palestinian press agency Wafa, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is currently visiting the United States to meet with Donald Trump.
Condemning the Israeli military operations, named "Iron Wall," being conducted for two weeks in the north of the occupied West Bank, Nabil Abu Rudeineh stated that they aimed to 'implement plans of forced displacement and ethnic cleansing' and called on the American administration to "intervene (...) before it's too late."
The Palestinian Authority reported that 70 people have been killed by Israel this year in the occupied West Bank, the scene of the military operation 'Iron Wall' launched two weeks ago by Israeli forces.
In a statement, Ramallah issued a warning against what it called the "dangerous expansion of the conflict," while accusing Tel Aviv of "intensifying its aggression" in the West Bank with the aim of forcibly displacing Palestinian families from their homes.
It also urged the American administration to intervene and put an end to the violence before it triggers an "explosion throughout the region."
