In northern Syria, a car bomb explosion in Manbij has killed at least fifteen people, according to the official Syrian news agency SANA. Fifteen others were injured. All the victims are agricultural workers, the majority of whom are women.
Manbij, a city in the Aleppo province, fell into the hands of pro-Turkish groups in December after years under the control of Kurdish forces. Since late November, fighting has erupted between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF, dominated by Kurds), supported by the United States, and pro-Turkish groups, including the Syrian National Army (SNA), in northern Syria, despite U.S. attempts to impose a cease-fire.
This is the second such explosion to occur in the city within the last 24 hours, which was already affected by another attack last Saturday that resulted in more than a dozen deaths.
