Lebanon supports Ambassador Moustapha Adib's candidacy to replace Salam at ICJ

The Lebanese presidency announced its support on Tuesday for the candidacy of Lebanon’s ambassador to Germany and ambassador to UNESCO, Moustapha Adib, to fill the vacancy at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) following the departure of Nawaf Salam after he became his country's prime minister-designate on Jan. 14.

The ICJ is expected to elect a new court member on May 27, 2025, to replace its president, whose term was set to expire on Feb. 5, 2027.
