BEIRUT — Emirates Airlines has announced it will resume flights to Beirut on Saturday, Feb. 1. "We are delighted to announce that Emirates will resume operations between Dubai (DXB) and Beirut (BEY) with a daily flight starting Feb. 1, 2025," the company said, following in the footsteps of other airlines that had previously suspended flights.
After a cease-fire in Lebanon took effect on Nov. 27, ending nearly 14 months of conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, SundAir resumed flights from Berlin to Beirut last Friday, operating two flights per week. German airline Condor Flugdienst GmbH also resumed its Düsseldorf-Beirut flights on Dec. 20.
Other airlines have already resumed service to Beirut, including Royal Jordanian (since Dec. 1), Turkish Airlines (since Dec. 3), Ethiopian Airlines (since Dec. 8), and Qatar Airways (since Dec. 9).
From late September to Dec. 1, only Lebanon's national carrier, Middle East Airlines (MEA), continued flights to and from Lebanon despite Israeli airstrikes. Airlines suspended service to Beirut, particularly after a deadly explosion on Sept. 17 involving hundreds of pagers reportedly used by Hezbollah memebers.
As for Air France, which suspended its routes between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Tel Aviv on Sept. 30, 2024, French President Emmanuel Macron assured during his visit to Lebanon on Jan. 17 that the airline will resume service to Beirut in February.
While flights to Tel Aviv will resume on Jan. 25, no official announcement has been made regarding flights to Lebanon. "Air France is also doing everything possible to resume its routes between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Beirut," the company said, adding that it plans to resume this service "in the coming weeks."
