While humanitarian aid deliveries resume in light of the cease-fire in Gaza, UNRWA remains sidelined — with the Israeli ban set to take effect at the end of January.

For the first time in over a year, humanitarian aid is set to reach Gaza without obstruction, as mandated by the first phase of the cease-fire agreement that came into effect on Sunday between Hamas and Israel. While the deal requires the opening of all border crossings, more than 600 trucks entered the territory on the same day.The World Food Programme (WFP) said it had already delivered more than 100 trucks of aid. However, the U.N. Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), which plays a central role in humanitarian aid in Gaza, has so far been sidelined in the current relief efforts."Our teams are on the ground; we have thousands of experienced humanitarian workers ready to act.
