Testimonies from Beirut

The links created by the war in Lebanon

The war in Lebanon has been brutal, terrifying and devastating. How many Lebanese have lost loved ones to Israeli bombings? How many more have lost their homes? Yet, amidst the immense suffering, moments of solidarity have emerged.

In this episode of "Testimonies from Beirut," a Lebanese woman from the Bekaa, now living in the southern suburbs of Beirut, shares her story. Forced to flee repeatedly during the war due to Israeli bombardments, her journey brought her to a family who not only opened their doors to her and her loved ones but cared for them deeply—even as their own world crumbled around them.

Setting aside prejudices and community divisions, she recounts how this encounter became the foundation for "a new friendship, full of love" in the midst of chaos. "I think the Lebanese have learned an important lesson during this war: we can only rely on each other," she reflects.

Every week, "Testimonies from Beirut" gives voice to men, women and even children from all parts of Lebanon and beyond, sharing how the war between Lebanon and Israel has upended their lives. Through personal and intimate stories, they reveal their experiences, fears, and hopes. Tune in each week to hear these moving accounts on all our platforms.
