The airline Emirates announced on Tuesday the extension of the suspension of its flights to Beirut and Baghdad until Jan. 31, inclusive, while it had planned to resume flights in mid-January, more than a month after the cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah.

In a statement, the airline confirmed "the extension of the cancellation of all flights to and from Beirut and Baghdad until Jan. 31, 2025."

Similar to Air France, which recently extended its suspension of flights to Beirut until the end of January, or the Lufthansa group, which does not plan to return to Lebanon before early March, the vast majority of European airlines seem to want to wait and see what happens after the expiration of the 60-day cease-fire.

During the Israeli offensive carried out from the end of September until Dec. 1, only Lebanon's national airline, Middle East Airlines (MEA), continued to operate flights to and from Lebanon, amid the Israeli bombings.
