The deputy government commissioner at the military court, Judge Hani Helmi al-Hajjar, referred two detainees to the military investigating judge. They were arrested for assaulting and insulting members of the Internal Security Forces assigned to guard the Saudi embassy in Ras Beirut on Dec. 22.
The incident involved three young individuals in a white Ford Mustang with tinted windows and no license plate.
According to the state-run National News Agency (NNA), Hajjar stated that "articles 381 and 383 of the Penal Code, which stipulate a prison sentence of up to three years, have been cited in the proceedings against the two detainees." The NNA report did not mention the third occupant of the vehicle.
