Internal Security Forces (ISF) officers stationed outside the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Ras Beirut were insulted and shoved by three young men in a car during the early hours of Saturday, according to a security official who spoke on condition of anonymity. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. during a routine inspection of a white Ford Mustang with tinted windows and no license plates.
The three passengers, two of whom were reportedly intoxicated, insulted and physically confronted the officers during the stop. The individuals were subsequently handed over to security forces, and the military prosecutor’s office was notified of the incident.
The deputy government commissioner at the military tribunal has ordered "an immediate investigation," the indictment of the assailants and the summoning of the assaulted officers for questioning.
The incident follows another attack on Saturday, when an ISF officer was deliberately run over by a driver in Beirut. A security source confirmed to L'Orient Today that the driver was arrested and is currently under interrogation. The injured officer was hospitalized with "several fractures."
