BEIRUT — Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah noted Sunday the importance of reconstruction efforts and cooperation with the Lebanese state and army, almost three weeks after a cease-fire was implemented in Lebanon between the party and the Israeli army, following 14 months of fighting.
"Hezbollah prioritizes rebuilding, but this requires patience and cooperation. Damage assessments are underway, and local committees are addressing housing needs. We are committed to ensuring every family receives the support they deserve," he stated.
Speaking during a commemoration ceremony for killed Hezbollah members in Aita al-Jabal and Braasheet (both located in Bint Jbeil), Fadlallah emphasized Hezbollah’s support for the Lebanese Army’s presence in the South, affirming, "We have no issue with the Lebanese Army taking authority in areas south of the Litani. The army was present at the borders, targeted by Israel, and has its own martyrs. We support the army’s deployment and actions across Lebanon, coordinating with them when needed."
He further stressed that sovereignty belongs to official Lebanese authorities, rejecting external interference.
'Israel of attempting to establish new rules of engagement'
He criticized ongoing Israeli violations, accusing Israel of attempting to establish new rules of engagement. "These violations highlight the necessity of resistance to defend the country. Those who claim international resolutions will protect Lebanon must explain how such decisions will stop Israel’s aggression."
Reflecting on the “sacrifices” of Hezbollah, Fadlallah declared, "A resistance that witnesses the martyrdom of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, and its leaders and fighters cannot retreat, be defeated, or lose strength. When our leaders are martyred, we become stronger and more committed to our resistance."
On Sept. 27, Israel assassinated former Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in a strike that Israeli officials told the New York Times included the dropping of more than 80 bombs over a period of several minutes on the southeastern quarter of the Haret Hreik neighborhood in Beirut's southern suburbs.
Addressing Syria, Fadlallah recalled Hezbollah’s role in confronting ISIS and criticized the silence over Israeli aggression there. He stated, "Without resistance in Lebanon, the Israeli army would have reached Beirut."
Reaffirming Hezbollah’s stance, he concluded, "Our resistance remains strong, unified, and resilient. No regional developments can alter this path."
