The South Lebanon Water Authority announced Friday that it had "carried out the necessary maintenance work to connect the Bass hydropower station (east of Sour) to the distribution networks" and had thus restored the water supply to Sour and its surrounding areas.
In a statement released Friday, the authority added that its teams had cleared debris and repaired the station, which had been "damaged by an Israeli airstrike that killed two employees and destroyed the station's buildings." In cooperation with the Union of Sour Municipalities and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), repair work resumed after the cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah took effect on Nov. 27.
Following the implementation of the cease-fire, the South Lebanon Water Authority launched an emergency plan to "assess and repair" damage caused by Israeli bombings to the water supply and sanitation networks in the region.
