The General Directorate of General Security (GS) issued a statement Thursday warning Lebanese citizens against "suspicious applications" that recruit individuals for paid technical work, claiming links to foreign intelligence services, notably Israel.

"The General Directorate of the GS warns citizens against companies that hire individuals to perform technical tasks in exchange for money via certain applications operating on Lebanese territory," the statement read. It added that these companies are "connected to foreign intelligence services, including those of the Israeli enemy," and cautioned that collaboration with such entities could lead to legal action.

When asked for specifics about the "technical work" mentioned, a security source declined to elaborate. The source suggested that the tasks primarily involve providing data — such as information and photographs — through applications whose operators are difficult to identify or verify. The main parties involved will recognize themselves and are urged to avoid engaging with any application that appears suspicious, the source said.
