An indictment for espionage has been filed against 21-year-old Tahrir Safadi, a resident of Masada in the Golan Heights, who is accused of collecting information on missile strike locations and the movement of Israeli army forces. This includes photographs of tanks, armed soldiers, equipment, and weapons, Haaretz reported Friday.
Safadi, an engineering student, was indicted following suspicions that he and his father were recruited by Iran and had been in contact with a foreign agent during wartime, committing espionage-related crimes, according to Haaretz.
The police and Shin Bet accused Tahrir and his father, Bassem, of being in contact with Hussam as-Salam Tawfiq Zidan, a journalist for the Iranian Al-Alam news network who resides in Damascus.
The investigation revealed that Tahrir had, in recent years, been involved in gathering intelligence for the Iranian axis under Iran's direction. He allegedly acted on behalf of his father, who remains in administrative detention, Haaretz concluded.
