An Israeli strike on Monday afternoon on Choueifat, which hit a residential complex in the Midane district near the Kamal Joumblatt hospital and the home of Lebanese Democratic Party leader Talal Arslane, “did not target any Hezbollah officials,” according to a spokesperson for the Shiite formation contacted by L'Orient-Le Jour on Tuesday.

“There were no party members in the building. This was carnage targeting civilians,” said this source, who denounced "Israeli allegations concerning the presence of personalities" from Hezbollah in the targeted building.

The raid, which was not preceded by a call to evacuate, killed one person and wounded six, according to the Health Ministry.

Contacted, an army source said he had no information about the strike, but believed it may have targeted either a Hezbollah figure or a Shiite party arms depot. A captioned photo circulating online, the authenticity of which L'Orient-Le Jour has been unable to verify, shows plastic boxes among the rubble, and asserts that these are weapons and drones found in the rubble of the targeted building in Choueifat.
