Several Israeli strikes hit Beirut's southern suburbs on Sunday, the National News Agency (NNA) said, following a call from the Israeli army to evacuate certain areas in the region.
“A series of violent strikes targeted Haret Hreik, Bir al-Abed and Ghobeiri in Beirut's southern suburbs,” said NNA. Earlier, NNA had reported two strikes by “Israeli warplanes” on the Kaafat area, also in the southern suburbs of the capital, which “caused massive destruction.”
The Israeli army's Arabic-language spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, had warned on X that the army would strike “Hezbollah facilities and interests” in the Hadath and Burj al-Barajneh neighborhoods, sharing maps of the areas to be evacuated. In the evening, he reiterated calls for the evacuation of the two neighborhoods, also listing other neighborhoods in the southern suburbs.
In several images filmed by AFPTV during the day, gray smoke rises over the Lebanese capital after the strikes.
