BEIRUT — Around 9 a.m. on Thursday morning, the Israeli army told residents of three buildings in the neighborhoods of Haret Hreik and Hadath, in Beirut's southern suburbs, that they were located "near Hezbollah facilities and interests against which the [Israeli army] would operate in the near future."

Just under and hour later, the first bomb was dropped on Haret Hreik, followed by two more airstrikes within the next 45 minutes.

Beirut's densely and diversely populated southern suburbs were also subjected to overnight strikes from the Israeli army. Shortly before 2 a.m., the Israeli army's Arabic-language spokesperson posted an evacuation warning on his X account for the residents of several buildings in Haret Hreik. Around an hour later the first strike hit, followed by two more within a 15-minute time span.
