Barely an hour after a warning from the Israeli army, several air raids targeted Beirut's southern suburbs. According to local media, the force of these strikes destroyed several buildings in Ghobeyri.

The Israeli army's Arabic-speaking spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, had issued an evacuation notice to residents of two buildings in Ghobeiri this morning.

“For your safety and that of your family members, you must evacuate these and adjacent buildings immediately, and move at least 500 meters away from them,” he wrote. The buildings were marked in red on maps published by the spokesperson. They are both close to the Bustan school.

A few minutes later, heavy gunfire was heard in Ghobeiri, prompting residents to evacuate.

Israeli air strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs have been multiplying over the past few days. On Thursday, the Israeli army carried out at least seven air strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs, in two series each following calls to evacuate buildings. Also on Thursday, 12 people were killed in an Israeli raid on a Lebanese civil defense center in Douris, near the eastern Lebanese city of Baalbeck.

More than 3,380 people have been killed and 14,417 wounded, according to the Lebanese authorities, since the clashes began in October 2023, when Hezbollah opened the southern Lebanese front with Israel to support the Palestinian Hamas in Gaza. Most of the victims have been killed since the end of September.
