The ultimatum issued by the United States to Israel a month ago has expired. While some observers believed that the U.S. could suspend at least part of its military assistance to its ally, Washington said Tuesday that Israel was not violating U.S. law on humanitarian aid to Gaza, but called for further progress. On Oct. 13, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin sent a letter to their Israeli counterparts, demanding Israel take steps within 30 days to improve the dire humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip.
