On Friday night, Israel launched its expected response to Iran's 180 ballistic missiles on Oct. 1 in retaliation for the assassinations of Ismail Haniyeh and Hassan Nasrallah. Some 20 sites across Iran were targeted by the Israeli army, notably using fighter jets. While the extent of the damage is not yet clear, with Tehran claiming that its anti-aircraft defense was able to keep up with the Israeli “aggression” despite some limited damage, Tel Aviv announced that it had achieved its objectives. Dubbed “Days of Repentance,” the operation is the first direct attack Israel has claimed on Iran. According to Axios, the Americans are expecting a response from Tehran in the next few days.
