BEIRUT — The Internal Security Forces (ISF) mourned the security apparatus's member, First Sergeant Ali Mohammed Hammoudi, who was killed Thursday "after an Israeli airstrike targeted the town of Srifa in the Sour district," ISF said in a statement Friday.
"Born on April 11, 1981, in Srifa, Sour, Hammoudi joined the Internal Security Forces on Sept. 11, 2006, and served with pride in the Information Division, rising through the ranks to become a First Sergeant," the statement said.
"During his service, Hammoudi was posthumously awarded several honors, including the Wounded Medal, the Military Medal, the Internal Security Medal and the Merit Medal. He also received commendations from the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, along with multiple written recognitions and a financial reward from the Director-General," the statement noted.
The ISF concluded that Hammoudi's "commitment and dedication to duty will be forever remembered."
Around 1.5 million people have been displaced in Lebanon since war broke out between Hezbollah and Israel and further escalated on Sept.23.
Over the past year, at least 2,141 people have been killed in Lebanon, with nearly 10,099 others injured, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
