The Russian Foreign Ministry stated on Wednesday that Hezbollah remains organized and has not lost its chain of command despite Israeli strikes, which Moscow claims are attempting to fuel an armed conflict in the Middle East.
"According to our assessments, Hezbollah, including its military branch, has not lost its chain of command and demonstrates organization," said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova to the press.
Ms. Zakharova asserted that the West, particularly the United States and the United Kingdom, is exacerbating the conflict in the Middle East and is hypocritical in supporting Israel, which is inflicting significant civilian casualties in Lebanon.
Russia also criticized Israel for its strikes on Syria. "Once again, Israel has grossly violated Syria's sovereignty by launching a missile attack on a multi-story residential building in a densely populated area of Damascus," the spokeswoman continued.
"It is outrageous that such actions have literally become common practice applied to Syria, Lebanon, and the Gaza Strip," Ms. Zakharova condemned. She added that these actions indicate Israel's "desire to further escalate armed conflict in the region."
