An Israeli raid on Tuesday targeted the main water supply route from the Litani River to the Qasmieh irrigation project in the Erzi region of southern Lebanon, which draws over 260,000 cubic meters of water per day to irrigate around 6,000 hectares of farmland along the southern coast, announced Litani River Authority president Sami Alawiyeh.

Alawiyeh described the attack as "a violation of international humanitarian law, as water from the Litani can no longer be drawn in southern Lebanon, which reignites suspicions about the enemy's intentions regarding Lebanon's water resources."

He added that the Litani River Authority "has taken temporary measures to divert the water to prevent flooding of agricultural land and roads, and will take the necessary steps to restart the agricultural irrigation project as soon as possible."
