The Israeli army announced Friday that it had struck positions near the Lebanon-Syria border the previous day to "prevent the smuggling of weapons" to Hezbollah.

"Air Force fighter jets struck (Thursday) an underground tunnel crossing the Lebanese-Syrian border, approximately 3.5 kilometers long, which was used by Hezbollah to transport and store a large amount of combat equipment underground," said the Arabic-language spokesperson for the army, Avichay Adraee, on X. Without specifying the exact location of this infrastructure, he added that the tunnel was "under the supervision of Unit 4400, responsible for transferring weapons from Iran to Hezbollah," whose chief, Mohammad Jaafar Kassir, was killed earlier this week.

According to Adraee, other "military buildings, weapons depots, and terrorist facilities were destroyed" in these strikes.

He also confirmed that Israel had bombed "infrastructures at the Masnaa border crossing between Syria and Lebanon, used to transport weapons for Hezbollah," on the night from Thursday to Friday.

These consecutive strikes around one of the official border crossings in the Bekaa region caused significant material damage and completely tore apart the road between the two countries over several hundred meters.
