BEIRUT — On Tuesday, Al-Mayadeen journalist Hadi al-Sayyed succumbed to his injuries, sustained from an Israeli airstrike on his house in Srifa in the Sour district the day before.
Al-Mayadeen, which is a Lebanese pro-Iranian broadcaster, mourned the death of Sayyed who worked at "Al-Mayadeen Online" on its social media platforms.
The Alternative Press Syndicate said in a statement that "targeting civilians, including journalists, is a war crime."
"The Alternative Press Syndicate calls for an immediate independent investigation to find out the circumstances of the targeting and martyrdom of colleague Hadi al-Sayed, and all journalists," the statement continued.
In November last year, two journalists from al-Mayadeen, Farah Omar and Rabih Maamari, and their civilian companion, Hussein Aqil, were killed in an Israeli bombardment in the border sector of Tayr Harfa, in the district of Sour.
Since Monday, at least 558 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon after Israel launched operation "Northern Arrows" against Hezbollah. Both sides have been fighting along the Lebanese-Israeli border since last October amid the Hamas-Israel war in Gaza.
