How rigged devices and front companies sparked deadly explosions in Lebanon
In the aftermath of the two consecutive waves of explosions triggered by rigged pagers and walkie-talkies, Sakr Abou Fakhr, a researcher at the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, takes a look at Israel’s history of using shell companies.

The unprecedented operations conducted by Israel in Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday exposed Mossad’s, Israel’s foreign intelligence agency, use of shell companies to carry out its operations.The rigged pagers and walkie-talkies, which killed over 40 people and injured 3,000 others during two waves of explosions, reportedly had explosive charges added to them before being delivered to Lebanon.The New York Times revealed that BAC Consulting, a company based in Hungary, which allegedly produced the pagers ordered by Hezbollah, was in fact an Israeli front company established years ago, which obtained the license to manufacture these devices under the name of the Taiwanese company Gold Apollo.
