BEIRUT — Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces (ISF) arrested a suspect in a drug trafficking case and seized a suspicious parcel sent from South America, the ISF said in a statement Monday.
According to the ISF, they had been monitoring drug trafficking activities and received intelligence about a shipment arriving in Beirut. The parcel was addressed to a Lebanese born in 1987, who was found to be working for a wanted drug dealer.
The recipient of the parcel is also wanted for a ten-year prison sentence for forgery and has an outstanding arrest warrant for a drug-related charge. The ISF revealed that the parcel contained a "suspicious liquid intended for the drug dealer."
Legal procedures are underway for the recipient, and search warrants have been issued for others involved, “based on judicial directives."
