At dawn on Sunday, Hezbollah launched a large-scale attack on northern Israel.According to the party, the first wave of the operation, consisting of around 300 Katyusha rockets, was designed to overwhelm Israel’s air defense system by forcing Iron Dome batteries to deplete their interceptors. This strategy was intended to make it easier for the second wave of projectiles to reach their targets. According to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, the targets were the Ein Shemer airbase, located about 75 kilometers from the border and 40 kilometers north of Tel Aviv, and the Glilot base, situated 1.5 kilometers north of Israel’s second-largest city.
