BEIRUT — Ella Waweya, head of the Arabic media desk in the Israeli army and known on X as "Captain Ella," released a video on Tuesday specifically targeting the women of Lebanon, in which she heavily criticized Hezbollah.

The Israeli army frequently uses propaganda videos to address Lebanese civilians, which may be construed as psychological warfare efforts.

In her video, Waweya also condemned a recent Hezbollah release showcasing the party's tunnel network. "I saw Hezbollah's latest video boasting about their big underground tunnel, presenting it as a great achievement. But I want to ask: what about what's happening above ground? They are digging tunnels while the Lebanese people live without electricity, facing a reality of difficulties and instability," Waweya said.

Recently, Lebanon faced a complete electricity blackout, with residents relying almost entirely on private generators after EDL announced it had shut down all its thermal power plants due to depleted fuel stocks.

Tel Aviv’s psychological warfare targets Beirut once again

While addressing the women of Lebanon, Waweya stated: "This reality not only darkens your home but also stifles your future and that of your children. Hezbollah serves foreign interests, particularly Iran's, and you are paying the heavy price. Hezbollah's tunnels are deep, but the darkness and injustice they impose on you is much deeper. You do not deserve this fate; you deserve a brighter and better future."

Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in near-daily hostilities since Oct. 8, 2023, amid the Hamas-Israel war in Gaza. These clashes have resulted in at least 582 deaths in Lebanon, primarily Hezbollah fighters but also at least 107 civilians, according to L'Orient Today. In Israel and the occupied Syrian Golan, 23 soldiers and 26 civilians have been killed, according to Israeli authorities.
