BEIRUT — In light of the recent rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, several high-profile concerts scheduled to take place in Lebanon this week have been postponed, according to announcements made by various entertainment companies.

On Wednesday, the Lebanese Caracalla Dance Troupe confirmed the postponement of the opening ceremony of their dance production "One Thousand and One Nights," which was originally scheduled for tonight at their theater in Sin El Fil, the state-run National News Agency reported. The event has now been rescheduled to next Thursday, Aug. 8. The troupe cited "emergency circumstances."

Furthermore, the GMH & TMG entertainment company announced on Tuesday the postponement of multiple concerts in Lebanon, citing fears of a potential war between Israel and Hezbollah. The affected shows include Tamer Hosny's concert on Aug. 3, Syrian singer Assala's event on Aug. 10, and a joint concert featuring Lebanese singer Assi el Hallani, Haifa Wehbi and Iraqi singer-composer Saif Nabeel, which was scheduled for Aug. 8.

In an Instagram statement, the GMH & TMG entertainment company expressed their concern for the safety of attendees and the impact of the ongoing situation on flights to and from Rafik Hariri International Airport (RHIA). The company has apologized to ticket holders and stated that the new schedule for the postponed concerts will be announced in due course, with refunds available for those who have already purchased tickets.

These postponements came following a sharp escalation in violence following an Israeli airstrike on Beirut's southern suburbs Tuesday night, and a separate attack that killed Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. These events have raised fears of further conflict in the region.
