The Lebanese Army announced Tuesday that it had arrested a suspect identified as D.K. in Shadra, a town in the Akkar region. During the arrest, authorities seized nearly 219,000 Captagon pills from his vehicle. The information was shared in a statement on the X platform and on the Army’s official website, where they also announced that an investigation is currently underway.
Captagon is a drug in the amphetamine family, originally developed as a treatment for narcolepsy and attention deficit disorder.
Lebanese authorities have pledged to intensify their efforts to combat drug trafficking both domestically and internationally. This commitment comes in response to frequent criticism from Gulf States, which have intercepted numerous drug shipments, particularly Captagon, originating from Lebanon.
