BEIRUT — Two separate road accidents left three people dead and one injured in North Lebanon, reported our correspondent in the North.
A.D, aged 20, and K.F, aged 22, died in a collision between two cars on the Beirut-Tripoli highway Monday night.
Red Cross paramedics found the body of one of the victim inside the wrecked vehicle and transported them to the Tripoli Government Hospital. A few hours later, the body of the second victim was found on the other side of the road.
The second accident, a hit-and-run, occurred at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Two men were on their way home from work to their place of residence in Kouba, when at the northern entrance of Batroun, they were violently hit by a speeding car.
One of the young men, who had lost consciousness after being hit, later reported his friend missing. The latter was found lifeless in an irrigation canal.
Road accidents have become a frequent occurrence in Lebanon, where road infrastructure is rarely maintained and traffic regulations are not adequately enforced or respected. The condition of Lebanon's roads has only become worse with the ongoing crisis that has gripped the country since 2019.
