BEIRUT — The Halba Judicial Police in Akkar governorate seized about 120,000 pills of the amphetamine Captagon on Wednesday from a house under construction, the Internal Security Forces (ISF) said in a statement.
The ISF also arrested a 23-year-old man allegedly involved in trading the pills, the said. The house is located in Qabait, a village in Akkar.
Lebanese authorities have stepped up efforts in recent months to combat the production and trafficking of illicit drugs, particularly Captagon, in response to criticism from Gulf monarchies that the country is a trafficking hub.
