BEIRUT — Beirut's Governor Marwan Abboud announced on Wednesday an increase in official valet parking fees in Beirut, now set at LL75,000, the state-run National News Agency reported.
The official fee, which is the equivalent of around $0.76 on the market rate, was LL20,000 around the same time in 2022.
According to the NNA, the decision applies to shops and hospitality venues and includes the cost of VAT.
The decision also bans parkers from using any pedestrian sidewalk or any barriers used to reserve the parking spots including rocks, and concrete flower vases. Those who violate the decision will be "legally punished" and "fined," the decision also said.
However, the official price of valet parking is rarely respected and some businesses are charging several hundreds of thousands for a parking spot.
