BEIRUT — The Lebanese Red Cross announced Saturday morning that its direct 104 line hotline in Beirut and Mount Lebanon has suffered a breakdown due to a failure on the part of the telecom operator Ogero. The Red Cross has made available two numbers for use in the event of an emergency until the hotline is restored.

"A breakdown affects line 140 in Beirut and Mount Lebanon due to the shutdown of the Ogero central. For emergencies, please contact 81/715074 and 71/140122," the Red Cross wrote on its Twitter account, specifying that these numbers are temporary.

Ogero announced that "a malfunction occurred in some communication equipment in Hazmieh Central, which affected the quality of our services in the affected area and a number of neighboring areas. Our teams are working to fix the malfunction as quickly as possible,”

Ogero’s services have faced similar interruptions in numerous areas, which have been attributed to the increased load on diesel generators, issues with cables and theft of equipment.
