BEIRUT — A young woman was attacked and bitten Sunday by a pack of dogs in the town of Ehden in northern Lebanon while she was walking in the street, L’Orient Today’s correspondent in the North and the state-run National News Agency reported.

The women was "fiercely attacked by dogs that gnawed parts of her body before she was helped by other people who rushed to get the dogs away from her," L'Orient Today's correspondent reported.

The woman was then treated by the Lebanese Red Cross in Ehden before being transported to Tripoli Governmental Hospital.

The municipality of Zgharta-Ehden explained in a statement that it had already “complained twice to the relevant authorities about the owner of the dogs after receiving several complaints of the dogs' repeated attacks on passersby." The owner had previously promised to tie up the animals, but failed to do so, according to the municipality.

“The municipality confiscated the dogs and is preparing a complaint report to have the dogs' owner arrested,” the statement concluded.
