BEIRUT — One Pakistani worker has died from complications sustained in the fire that broke out on Tuesday afternoon in the Concord household appliances factory in the town of Naameh, reported the state-run National News Agency (NNA). He died after being transported to a nearby hospital along with four others. A short circuit is said to have caused the fire.
Seven employees are still trapped inside the factory and an evacuation initiative is underway, NNA reported.
Caretaker Minister of the Environment Nasser Yassin warned that flammable materials are present in the Concord Electrical Equipment Factory in a phone call with local TV station LBCI. Yassin stated that the authorities are working on "isolating the area" to control the situation.
