BEIRUT — Two light earthquakes were recorded Tuesday morning off the Lebanese coast, near the city of Saida, South Lebanon, the National Center for Geophysics said.

The first tremor, of magnitude 4 on the Richter scale, occurred on Tuesday at 4:23 a.m. 64 km from the coast of Saida. The second, of magnitude 3.5, occurred at 9:30 a.m., and was located 70 km from the city.

A 6.3-magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale hit the Turkey-Syria border region Monday night, sparking panic across Lebanon two weeks after the massive Feb. 6 earthquake in Turkey and Syria that killed more than 46,000 people.

Several aftershocks have shaken Lebanon following the original Feb. 6 quake in Turkey in Syria. The tremors have led some people to flee dilapidated homes, fearing they could collapse.
